Friday 1st February
Up and awake in London, posted job application, who knows eh?
Quick wander to Pont De La Tour, Paul for massage, me hotel, working on details for the coroners….
Peeps arrived in the evening and a great time was had by all, Cooky and Matty stayed at the hotel, which was great, such fun to see them and everyone
Bit of a lie in, of course, Met Denny and Duncan for lunch at Pizza Express, the lovely rowdy gypsies behind us were divine
What was this image?
In the evening we had tickets to see Ruth Lorenzo at the Rooftop Gardens at a Spanish night, we had two ‘odd’ people singing first the first asked ‘how many woman in the audience’ – she was not blind by the way
The second had two dancers, one of which had a odd surprised look on his face, quite quite scary
So we did there, then glamour found us in the bar of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, very lovely cocktails, Paul with raspberry me with lychee
Mostly lounging and resting today, out for late lunch to Carluccios at Canary Wharf, lovely food and a pezzie arrived
uploaded my first quicktime movie to you tube
Squeak very happy with his new blanket
Up, breakfast, the executive lounge has moved to floor 2 for a while, travel wash and out to tube/ Paddington and train back to Newport, quick lunch with bargain hunt, into car and drive up to LLangollen – the madness, the madness!
Home, twas a bit chilly
Woke to a bit of snow
Had to email in short version of AOB for job in Scotland, think it all looked good, so fingers crossed
Was amazed by the bile from some peeps re equalities/ gay marriage
Wrote this about it:I rarely spend time in on-line forums as people within that environment appear to be closed minded or indeed absent of any sense of humour. Sometimes when I revisit the on-line forum world I wonder if I might of been too quick to judge, however recently when I engaged in an online conversation my original opinions were only confirmed I wonder, if those people who are quick to judge in the on-line world are quite simply demonstrating how people are so quick to judge, in the non-line world and that anyone who has a differing point of view is a ‘hater’ or someone to be swatted away like an annoying fly. Reasoned debate or witty conversation seems to be a waste of time and perhaps a old fashioned approach when people on-line are more concerned with where an apostrophe might sit or that ‘people seem to forget that….’ And then just tell you how to think as opposed to celebrating difference Some people arrive at a debate, make grandiose and offensive remarks and then say ‘you’re not helping with your childish remarks’ like somehow humour is more offensive than actual offensive remarks Then I thought that if equality was a cake, people need to share it and not hog it like a greedy children – meaning that its all there to share – why do some people want to hog the limelight/ being right, what is so right about being right? Does it actually make anything in the world good or better?
I do like out cushions in the hall
Well, excitement, vacuum bags arrived, hooray! so tided and cleaned around, made chilli for Friday and the madelaine batter, busy, busy and worked on the refreshing of the re:imagined songs for next year
Daron sent pic of Londoninium
Finally got my domain back, phew and happy!
Paul arrived home about 4, Jane arrived about 7, home, dinner, wine, chatting, bed bout 5, all in all a grand day
Meditation cushion arrived
We popped into Osterwy for kitchen shop and circuit of town/ village – what on earth is it?
Met a beaky friend
Looked at houses in France, bath next to the bed?
Margaret arrived to Chirk, Dinner was yum, then blackberry margaritas, and groundhog day, for your eyes only and ab fab…. bed
Up, breakfast, getting ready to leave, eggs benedict, dropped Jane and Margaret at Chirk and onwards and drove back to Newport
Sent job implication in to Cardiff council, did my exercise (with new weights) and meditation and did my show on belter radio with the theme of hounds of love
Planted the red wood seeds and found a place for lovely zen calendar from Jane
Waited in all day for the new sofa bed to arrive. Made first organic pancakes and they were yummy
The sofa finally arrived, but has wonky leg, we are not happy
Played around with possible new theme for space dogs radio
Worked on a project for soundcloud
February looked lovely in my little zen garden
Boys ready for London, if not a little cramped
Train journey was fine, to hotel, met Denny, Paul off to conference, me a little shopping. Fizz arrived. We had dinner in the exec lounge as were going out on Friday
Had a lovely valentines card (from a a secret admirer of course)
I recalled my original website that has now gone in time and space
The boys made a little home on the shelf above the bed
Paul to his conference (second day) me in the hotel, did some exercise and meditation and used lots of data with uploads
Laters we went to Plateau for dinner, bit rowdy in the bar, but the table was great
Apart from Paul’s main of teeny weeny chicken breasts, food was delish esp my coconut creme brulee with foam (what is foam eh?)
Back to hotel, bit of telly, splash of wine et al
Off to Winchester, met with Karin and Jerry. Off to country pub for lunch, wasn’t going to drink, but had some lovely red wine, back to car, into Winchester for coffee and through some park thing with feckin animals roaming in it, shocking!
Back on the train, lovely sunset
Saw a reflection of the shard in a building
After bit of too-ing and fro-ing re card working in the hotel door, we were back in the room, then Nursie joined us for dinner, via exec lounge for fizz. Strada, but Paul not happy with the table (we had vouchers from the last disaster meal) we left and went to Zizzi instead, which was less busy/ frantic and nice waiter (Paul)
Into town for bits and pieces, looking for suit for Paul’s job interview
Over to Kat and David’s for very yummy dinner, then jumped in a cab to Shad Thames and meeting Denny/Duncan for pub quiz, I may have been a bit merry by this point.
Subtle car, and what the hell is the other one?
Breakfast in hotel, slightly hungover over from the night before, tube and train home to Newport. Radio show. tired!
This outfit on pointless was just heavenly
Off to London for eye check up, lunch with Emma was cancelled. Eyes are fine it seems, although DR said that I may need reading glasses now which is why my vision is blurred, just a coincidence that it happened after the laser treatment
Off to Baker St to browse shops, Paddington, train, back to Newport and home for just after 5
Paul’s interview, came and went and so did Newport, it appears we are saying bye bye to South Wales
After the interview we drove back to Llangollen, home for about 5 ish, took a while for the place to warm up!
Paul busying sorting out his career, me cleaning, tidying, shopping
Matty, Daron and Carl arrived about 9.30, a shockingly quick drive time from London, many drinks and chats
Up, sort of, nibbles, out to the canal to feed the ducks and look at the aqueduct, home, games (London underground game was a hit) – food, rissotto – yum!
Looks like Limoges will be sunny if cold
Getting ready for a stroll along the canal, complete with wellies
There be ice!
We could NOT get away from Knightbridge, not helped by Matty
Celebrating our 10k run in Corn Mill
Celebrating the long walk into Llangollen, I didn’t, they did
Something not right about the welly-arms!
Nursie sent me a photo of a lovely/ cheeky squirrel
Getting ready for the week, lots to do, including packing for Ormskirk, Limoges and Leeds
Over to Ormskirk for meal for Margaret, Saracens head (or is it arms)
Up very EARLY and in the car and over to John Lennon airport for flight to Limoges, good seats that Paul pre booked
They say to ‘sit back and relax’ on the plane, they start to sell you stuff from the moment they take off till you are on the stairs leaving the plane
Picked up a great car at Hertz, and we were off via criossants from a service station, they were delish!!
Saw two great books
And off we were to view a house, we were early so food a square and nibbles. The sun was shinning and the ground had snow
The first house looked fine from the outside, but grim on the inside
Drive back to Limoges, checked into the hotel, we are staying in the ‘Greek room’ – off to hit the dizzy heights of Limoges (and it’s fecking cold weather)
They do like their festive coffee in Limoges/ France – cappuccino comes with spray cream and its better for it!
Popped into the ‘maison du fromage’
We ate pizza in a place called La Firenze, we arrived early to get out of the cold, food good, wine good. Back to the hotel for cheese and wine
Popped into local cafe for coffee and Madelaine’s
And we were off to see two more houses via (festive coffee) and criossants
The first of which in Savignac Les Eglises is gorge!
The second, although nice and complete with lake, was very big, but would need some work to make it our own
What was this?
Back to Limoges, Glamour in the squary (at subway!)
Saw this place and planned to eat there later, so we tried to find shops to pop into to keep out of the cold
Food was great, apart from the warm blood sausage drink (bluergh). Back to hotel, wine, cheese….
Just time for croissants, festive coffee and drive to airport
Bit of a wait in the airport, not delayed, just waiting…. flight was fine, only hour and half (although two men behind us who kept yapping loudly in great details was amusing/ annoying)
Landed, car, Ormskirk and the Saracens head (arms) for lunch. Dropeed Jane back and wee were off to Leeds to see Alison and Nick – jeepers was I shattered by this point!
Loved the ‘matrix’ coasters
