Woke up in Leeds, canalside and very lovely it was too. Sat and chatted all morning as Alison added more wood to the fire, all very cozy
Hospital were trying to contact me to speak with me, probally due to inquest coming up next week
Over to Liverpool to see an apartment, great views, nice window, but a big white box/ top of lift shaft does not a penthouse make and where was the buzzing coming from? – but was good to see to compare with others – drive back to Llangollen
Woke to a sunny morn, and most of the day we pondered about a possible move to France, would we, could we?
In the evening I made my first creme brulee and although slightly burnt sugared on the top, was completely delish
The hall looked splendid as also did the snowdrops
Drive back to Newport, back to decent wifi so spent most of the day catching up with tinternet stuff
On a week that was going to be difficult for me, someone who I would have regarded as a friend disappointed and annoyed me greatly by bringing stress into our home – If I don’t see them again, that’s fine with me – I have had plenty and I don’t like what I see anymore
After lunch I drove up to Manchester, went on the motorway, took 3 hours, bit of a dull journey on the motorway, but at least it was only 4 hours!
In the evening Lilian and me went to Isis for a meal, was great, food/ service very good – decor very 1980’s but they had black sambucca so all very lovely
Not great day, the morning spent at my dad’s inquest, during the night I had a very strange experience, like the duvet was alive or with spirit, was it my dad? or just my imagination, but very strange, I could hear the duvet moving and then I couldn’t move, till I eventually cried out
Drove to Bolton, bit stressful as the sat nav didn’t pick up the postcode and the phone took us to the wrong place, got there with minutes to spare
It was all a bit shitty if truth be known, hospital had to apologise for ‘poor communication’ to family member’s and also they lied and failed to tell us that my dad had 3 falls in the hospital not 1 – which we only found out about at the inquest, so awful and emotional – but the coroner was great and I felt he was quite miffed with the hospital who failed on many counts – some senior staff at the end were all over me as i fear they might fear a law suit or something – a day I don’t wish to repeat really!
I found the whole experience very upsetting. I feel that my dad didn’t really get the service he deserved at the end and this is something that I must now live with
At the end, even though I was obviously upset people from the hospital were all over me, perhaps as they feared some kind of press thing? I don’t know, but it was inappropriate, as was an unwanted text from a fuckwit
Drove back to Manchester via a chip shop then drove back to Wales. Potted round the house and to try and lighten my mood I mixed 2013/2 which helped me through a couple of hours
Picked Paul up from Gobowen at 8 ish, home for dinner, wine and question time
Misty start to the day
Spent the day round the house, tidying, lunch. Jane arrived about 11 ish and we had a few drinkies, which we all needed, think I did, I don’t really want another week like this one!
Up for lunch, back to bed, up for 5 ish, lovely dinner and James Bond – OK, a couple more drinks too – did a doodle
Was a good day to go for a drive, we thought about lunch at Rhugg farm, but as was mothers day then only had one menu, you could eat at the take away stall in the freezing cold if you wanted, which we didn’t, so we ate cake – not great really
And onwards to snowdonia and beautiful views and freezing weather
Hit the coast at Ceamarthen, for coffee and more cake. Then was time to drive home. Via Prezzo for dinner, was good, but my crab cakes were disappointing
James Bond, then Jane left
We had a week in Llangollen instead of having to travel back, the internet was awful for my show
There was a lush sunset
Played around with images for urbAn fOrest shows
Started to have a clear out, for the potential move and also as one thing that my dad dying has taught me, is don’t leave stuff for others to sort out, its messy and upsetting
Image I had at work that was cheery
Family photos from about 1971
From the play Wild Goose Chase, that’s me with the goose
Dad’s car was jump started and off to garage for MOT which it passed, phew!
Off to post office to tax the car, but I needed section of log book as the tax was out of date, I didn’t have this as had posted the log book to chnage into me being the registered keeper yesterday, very frustrating!
Home, rang DVLA and explained the situation, they said that I did have enough of the the log book to tax and sell, so back to the post office, now taxed, back to house, made appointment to sell the car in Chester, off to the car wash
As the car was having its final rinse in the ‘hand car wash’ Chester car place called and said that as the car was not in my name yet, I couldn’t sell it. Our lives are truly ruled by bits of paper ain’t they? But hey ho, should be able to sell in a couple of weeks or whenever I get the log book back in my name
Both cars cleaned for the first (and possibly last) time
Had 2 listeners in Europe, Hola!
Added a #nowplaying app to the Space Dogs Radio, will show song playing every couple of hours, will try out on Fridays and Saturdays for now – makes me feel quite professional
After a crazy week, we had a few drinks in the evening, we needed them! and the Bond film, Licence to Kill was fab!
Last drive back to Newport, roads were fairly clear, some drivers (people) have so little patience its a wonder how they get through life
Home in the light, dinner, Film with Sparky the Frankenstein dog (a cartoon??)
Last week in Newport, Did 27 minutes of exercise, Andy suggested that I look into getting my podcasts on tunein
Did radio show
After suggestion from Andy set myself up on tunein, now peeps can listen to show thru an app, had 2 listeners
Some bloke on breakfast news said ‘no fee no wee’
Did my radio show
Went into town for hair cut and last waltz of Newport, view of apartment from walk along the river
Lobby of Selskar Court
Not quite the golden gate bridge
Paul and his building
Got hair cut and back for tea
French lessons and meditation for 25 minutes. Washed the duvet and was a bit weird when it came out, like it gave birth to it self, very VERY weird
Loved the design on the coke bottle
Was in our bathroom
Found a Christmas cracker joke from a 2005 diary
The packing started properly
Full of hot air, pull up a chair
After lunch we walked along the river and Paul gave me a tour of his work place
We both spent the day in London, separately, then back to Newport, bit more packing, dinner et al
Stuff that was in Newport
Last day in Newport, final bit of packing, removal men arrived in time and in no time out stuff was in a van
Off in to Newport for a coffee, this image summed it up really, and just past this was a man having a piss on the street
Kate came to ‘check us out’, final photo in the flat and the carpark
And off we went to Llangollen, the promised snow didn’t really show that much till the side road on the way to Newtown. We got stuck behind slow moving vehicles, then we had an email from Carli letting us know the drive way was unpassable and there was no power, gulp!
The van was emptied, the snow continued, the power came on, it all looked very beautiful, thankfully the freezer and store was stocked up so as we were trapped in for the next four days, all was fine!
Trees fell and we were worried that many more would too, thankfully the drink and the exercise kept the spirits up!
Terry arranged for a snowplough to dig us out so that we could get out and travel to Leeds on the next day, the snowplough made the snow rise slightly round the car, fun!
Terry left a shovel so that I was able to dig the car out, a first for me, and great exercise!
Traveled to Leeds, apart from the high section of the M62, the only snow was in Llangollen, which was the worst snow in 30 years, how lucky were we? thankfully we had power, many didn’t
Leeds, chatting with Alison and Nick, Paul out to a work thing, had dinner, wine, chatting, picked up Paul about 10, back to the house, wine, knackered with a fuck awful cough, meh!
Up, snow started, and we decided to leave earlier than planned sue to the snow, apart from a sudden snowstorm on one section near Manchester, the journey was fine and home in juts under 2 hours
